Matt Batten

Matt Batten 32nd Round Pick to Major League Player Matt Batten is living proof that hard work, dedication, and a little bit of luck can take you far.

Batten was originally a 32nd-round pick out of Quinnipiac University in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. After being drafted, Batten made the commitment to work hard and make it to the big leagues, and this past summer, he did just that. This June, Batten’s contract was selected by the San Diego Padres where he spent 58 days in the big leagues this year. He still remains on their 40-man roster. Batten’s journey to the big leagues began even before he was drafted in his hometown of Shelton, Connecticut. At Technique Tigers Baseball Academy Batten worked on perfecting his skills and honing his craft to prepare for the next level. At Quinnipiac University, Batten is the All-Time hits leader. He continued to work on his strength and conditioning to make sure he was ready for the rigors of professional baseball. Batten credits much of his success to the Technique Tigers Baseball Academy. He believes that the Academy helped him become the player he is today and helped him reach his goal of playing in the Major Leagues.

what They’re Saying

Testimonials

Tigers is a phenomenal baseball academy. The academy helps players reach their athletics goals through education and action. From day one I have seen that teaching the physics & fundamentals of baseball is very important. These are ingredient that is often missing in successful baseball players. My son really enjoys being a Tiger! He knows to work hard, show up on time, pay attention to detail and respect others at all times (on and off the field). Coach Manny and his team of talented coaches give 100% all the time! They have the same drive as us parents for our children to become their very best!

Nyjahlani Bolo

The Academy truly focuses on more than just kids playing a game. The coaches all believe in hard work, competitive comraderie, and teamwork as well as focus and respect for each other and themselves. They train the whole player, from age appropriate strength training to flexibility, stamina, and focus, starting from the basics and working up. These kids start out not knowing strengths and weaknesses, and end up as family. My son is 9 and he loves it.

Dawn Szymaszek

Professionalism, courteous and engaging with the players. The level of personalized attention they pay to each kid is met only by their desire to improve the unique skill set of each player fortunate enough to be part of this program.

Ron Rivera

The coaching staff is truly committed to your child’s success on and off the field. It is an amazing group of coaches. Coach Manny and his staff create an environment that makes the game fun for the kids but teaches them all the skills they need for success. It is truly a great organization.
